Government’s Nationalism: Facts and Contradictions
Ok! Under the garb of nationalism, government
is strangling and gagging young voices. For what? For holding debates? Discussions
? or for being critical of government?
Then, first of all, advocates of nationalism (BJP, RSS, ABVP and allies)
need to revisit the basics of ‘democracy’, ‘Article 19(1)’ and purpose of
setting up higher education institutions.
It started, last year, with the banning
of Ambedkar Periyar Study Circle (APSC) of IIT Madras for criticising Modi
government’s policies, however, the ban was revoked later. Then, appointment of
FTII director- Gajendra Chauhan, followed by suicide of Rohith Vermula in
Central University, Hyderabad and now Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU).
We say those who raised anti- India
slogans catch them and give them fair trial and slap whatever laws, you have
from British India, on them. But do not malign the image of a varsity that has
sustained an international reputation and other institutions for their quality.
Ministry of Human Resource and
Development (MHRD) have enough time to shoot letters to curb ‘anti-national
elements’ on campuses, but they do not have time to ask all the state and
central universities to fill all teaching and non-teaching posts lying vacant for
years altogether. Rather than promoting the spirit of scientific temperament in
students they are advocating Hinduism. Oh, it is not their problem, how an uneducated
person, engulfed with political clout, can understand the value of an education
institution. Kanhaiya Kumar is anti- national because he raised his voice
against MHRD and UGC for suspending non-NET scholarships.
In fact, BJP is anti-national. Why and
How? Please find below:
PDP in Kashmir wanted Afzal Guru’s mortal
remains and believed that injustice happened to him. The Indian Express
reported:
“PDP has always
maintained that late Afzal Guru’s hanging was travesty of justice and
constitutional requirements and process was not followed in hanging him out of
turn,” said a group of PDP legislators in a written statement circulated to
media. “PDP stands by the demand for return of his (Guru’s) mortal remains, and
the party promises to follow vigorously for the return of the mortal remains,”
the PDP statement said.
Now, they are aligning with PDP to form
government in Kashmir. Hope, we got the answer who is anti-national (according
to the definition BJP, RSS and Delhi Police).
Next, Akhil
Bharatiya Hindu Mahasabha observed January 26, 2016 as a black day. They say
they do not believe in ‘Indian Constitution’. The Hindu reported:
Pandit Ashok
Sharma, national Vice President of the Hindutva body, has been organising a
protest against the Constitution of India since last five decades quite
religiously. Tuesday, when entire country celebrated Republic Day, was no
different for him. Mr. Sharma, who was quite categorical in declaring that he
didn't believe in Constitution of India, told The Hindu: "The purpose of
my life and that of millions of people like me who are present in this country,
is to make this country a Hindu Rashtra. Nobody can stop this country from
becoming a Hindu Rashtra".
It contradicts the theory of nationalism
of the present government. But no sedition charges!
In a news story published on February 18
on the front page of The Hindu mentioned that Delhi Police report found, JNU
students eat beef and worshiped Mahishasur (http://www.thehindu.com/news/national/jnu-students-ate-beef-worshipped-mahishasur-police-report/article8249694.ece).
What about this Sangeet Singh Som , BJP MLA , who founded one of India’s
leading halal meat export companies. He was at the front in anti-beef protests
and also named in Muzaffarnagar riots. However, he is national! It was also in
news that India tops in exporting beef. Hope JNU students are not running this
business.
Unfurling national flag on campuses, endorsing
RSS ideology, narrow thinking,
promoting self-styled godmen (Gurmeet
Ram Raheem), promoting business of Baba Ramdev and Shri Shri Ravi Shankar and murdering
rationalists (Narendra Dabholkar and M M Kalburgi) is not nationalism.
